CambodiaCan Delivers Disability Education Module, 2007
A second team travelled to Kep in August 2007 to conduct a disability awareness workshop in a rural village of Cham Kar Bai. This was conducted in collaboration with a local NGO Epic Arts located in nearby Kampot. The workshop was attended by village Red Cross workers, health care workers, village representative, the director of the village school, as well as members of the Kep Department of Social Affairs, Youth and Rehabilitation. The highlight of the day was the panel discussion where four community members with different disabilities told their stories to workshop participants and shared their experiences of what it is like to live with a disability. The day was a great opportunity to share ideas about the current issues pertaining to disability in the community of Kep, and to brainstorm future strategies to improve the quality of life in the community.
