Partners

Our success to date has been due to the collaboration between Canadian and Cambodian partners. Our community partners in Cambodia have a wealth of knowledge in local disability issues as well as specific environmental, economic and social factors that affect people with disabilities.

The following organizations are key partners:

Epic Arts: CambodiaCAN has an evolving partnership with this local non-governmental organization. Epic Arts is an arts education charity located in the town of Kampot, approximately 30 minutes from Kep, the rural community of our focus. Staffed by local Cambodians, this organization promotes inclusion, social integration and community regeneration for people with disabilities. Epic Arts has significant experience with grass roots and community mobilization, and the staff are well aware of the issues that face Cambodians living with disabilities.

The International Centre for Disability and Rehabilitation (ICDR): The ICDR was established in January 2004. The centre was formed as a response to the need for sustainable assistance to people with disabilities in developing countries; the need to expand the training of students and practitioners in responding to global needs; and in response to the University of Toronto's commitment to reaching beyond its traditional borders.
